Over the past 15 years, there have been some fascinating stories behind the winners of our prestigious Park of the Year award. Small or large, town or country – all of our title-holders have been worthy of the accolade, helping to raise standards in the park home industry. Yet this year’s champion, East Sussex-based Deanland Wood Park, could well go down as the most intriguing winner of them all... Home to a Spitfire squadron during the Second World War and a discreet but thriving colony of nudists shortly after,
the sprawling Hailsham park has had a colourful past. With such a rich and varied history, Deanland Wood conforms not only to our trend for rewarding ‘blue riband’ parks but also of recognising the interesting and the individual. So how exactly did the site end up becoming a mobile home park?
