Park Home Owners Club

Support a better future and justice for Park Home Owners NOW!

The Park Owners Club supports the recently launched Park Home Owners JUSTICE Campaign aimed at bringing a better future to all park home owners.
The campaign was launched on the initiative of Dorset park home owner, Sonia McColl, who was appalled at the way certain Park Owners were preventing park residents from selling their homes and obtaining financial advantage as a result of doing so.
The campaign is bidding for a change in the law so that park owners are NEVER in a position to interfere with the sale of a home by a park home owner without good reason.
The campaign has already had contact with over 10,000 park home owners across the UK. There has also already been a bumper rally in London, a lobby of MPs, an Early Day motion and debate actioned and led by Liberal Democrat MP Annette Brook, who is championing the campaign in Parliament, and even a letter to Her Majesty The Queen!

Park Home Owners are on the march!

A petition signed by thousands has gone to Parliament and now a special Fact Find questionnaire has been produced by the Justice Campaign to collect the facts and find out how widespread the problem of unscrupulous park owners is across the UK. The Government believes that unscrupulous park owners are in the minority, and so the aim of the questionnaire will be to gather evidence about the everyday issues facing residents who live on park home sites. The information obtained will be used by the Justice Campaign to directly lobby the Government for changes to current legislation. Statistics from the information questionnaire will be collated over a six-month period starting in February 2011 and following this a further rally of park home owners at Westminster might also be organised It is hoped that in the not too distant future there will be a long overdue amendment to the Mobile Homes Act 1983 to prevent any park owner from stopping the sale of homes and effectively stealing equity.

A Complete Reform

It is also hoped that when Government are presented with the statistics, a complete reform of the Mobile Homes Act 1983 will take place. In addition, it is hoped that the statistics will help Lord Graham of Edmonton, the Advisory Services and the All Party Parliamentary Group who have long asked for a "fit and proper person test" of park owners to be introduced. Says Paul Baker of Towergate Bakers, sponsors of this club “Without doubt we know there are some fantastic park owners up and down the country. Unfortunately there are also a number of very unscrupulous owners who give the industry a bad name which is such a shame because park home living can be a delightful lifestyle. The sooner the Government and the trade bodies act to tighten up the loop holes which currently exist, the better for everyone, be it manufacturers or park owners but especially park home residents.

Fighting all the way

Sonia agrees, “ We will fight all the way for this. Of course, not all park operators are unscrupulous. However rogue park owners are damaging the industry. I welcome positive input to our Campaign from good park operators and cordially invite them to join our Campaign. We want to make sure our Campaign can stop the malpractice's of unscrupulous park operators once and for all. Every park home owner in our country can play a part in making sure things are fair and just in the future for all those who choose to enjoy the park home lifestyle.” Sonia also thanked Paul Baker of Towergate Bakers and sponsors of the Park Home Owners Club for supporting the "Park Home Owners JUSTICE Campaign."
